§ 7-142. Examinations; application; fee; issuance of license; renewal.

  • (a)

    Every person desiring to engage in the electrical business shall, before engaging in such business, successfully pass an examination prepared, conducted and held by the state board of electrical examiners as provided by state law.

    (b)

    Any person currently licensed by the city electrical examiners board shall retain such license classification as long as the license fees and any bonds required are kept current with the city. If the license is not renewed by June thirtieth of each year, the license will not be renewable by the city. After such date, such person shall obtain a license from the state board of electrical examiners as provided by state law.

    (c)

    All city licenses shall expire on the thirty-first day of December of each year. All duly licensed persons who apply for such license within thirty-one (31) days after the expiration date shall pay a penalty of five dollars ($5.00) in addition to the regular renewal fee.

    (d)

    Renewal fees for city-licensed electricians shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Master electrician ..... $ 7.50

    (2)

    Journeyman electrician ..... 5.00

    (3)

    Specialist sign electrician ..... 3.00

    (4)

    Apprentices, no charge, no license required.
