§ 20-2. Duties and responsibilities of director.

  • The planning director shall be directly responsible to the mayor, and shall be responsible to the planning commission for the coordination and performance of all work items contained within those planning activities that pertain to the directives of the planning commission. The planning director shall have the following duties and responsibilities, in addition to those which may be designated and assigned by the planning commission and/or mayor:

    (1)

    Administers the municipal planning program.

    (2)

    Directs the planning staff and coordinates their activities with other staff members.

    (3)

    Execution of the development of municipal planning standards and implementation of the city's comprehensive planning program.

    (4)

    Acts as chief advisor to the planning commission.

    (5)

    Coordinates planning activities with those of other city departments and various regional, state and federal agencies.
