§ 7-28. Qualifications of members.

  • (a)

    The chief inspector shall be a person of proven executive ability conversant with the duties of the personnel of the department and of good moral character.

    (b)

    The building inspector shall have had at least ten (10) years' experience as an architect, construction engineer, building inspector, building contractor, or superintendent of building construction, for five (5) years of which he shall have been in responsible charge of work.

    (c)

    The plumbing inspector shall be an experienced plumber with at least six (6) years' plumbing experience, or at least four (4) years' experience as a plumbing inspector.

    (d)

    The electrical inspector shall have had at least five (5) years' experience as an electrician, preferably holding a master's license, or at least four (4) years' experience as an electrical inspector.

    (e)

    The mechanical inspector shall have had at least five (5) years' experience as a mechanical inspector or as a superintendent, foreman, or competent mechanic in charge of mechanical construction.

    (f)

    The housing inspector shall have the ability to detect faults and knowledge of testing and corrective measures in construction or rehabilitation of residential structures and also must have an understanding of real estate and possess the ability to understand and determine legal descriptions for real property.
