§ 7-242. Amendments to plumbing code.

  • The state plumbing code adopted by this article is amended and changed in the following respects:

    (1)

    10.1.3. Section 10.1.3 is hereby amended to read as follows:

    "Water piping when above ground, and within a building parameter, shall be cast iron, galvanized steel, Type K, L or M hard drawn copper tubing, or Polyethylene (PEX). Soft draw copper may be used in buildings being remodeled or repaired and may be used vertically in new construction."

    10.1.4. Section 10.1.4 is hereby amended to read as follows:

    "Water piping when underground, and within a building perimeter, shall be of cast iron or galvanized pipe, or Type L or K copper tubing, except when under a slab such pipe shall be cast iron or Type K or L copper pipe."

    (3)

    10.1.5. Section 10.1.5 is hereby amended to read as follows:

    "Cold water service piping shall be of cast iron, Type K or L copper tubing, galvanized pipe, or plastic pipe with a rating of sch 40 or above."

    (4)

    11.2.1. Section 11.2.1 is hereby amended to read as follows:

    "The building sewer, when installed in a separate trench from the water service pipe, shall be cast-iron soil pipe, vitrified clay sewer pipe with PVC joint, concrete sewer pipe with neoprene gasket joint, asbestos-cement pipe, or plastic pipe with a rating of sch 40 or above."
